Grndley Park Play Equipment
REPORT OF A MEETING OF THE
GRINDLEY PARK MANAGEMENT GROUP
HELD AT FULFORD VILLAGE HALL ON MONDAY, 29th JANUARY 2007 AT 7.30 P.M.
PRESENT: Councillors Mrs. Brayford, Goodfellow, Oxby, Shaw and Taylor.
The Clerk. Tony Farley of Wicksteed Leisure Ltd.
APOLOGIES: Sally McDonald of S.B.C.
Members were reminded that the Council had decided, after a general consideration of the schemes presented by three manufacturers, in principle to proceed and finalise a comprehensive scheme with Wicksteed Leisure which may be undertaken in phases dependent on finances and grants. Hence the presence of Mr. Tony Farley.
The initial scheme supplied in July 2006 provided play for children aged 2 to 11 years whilst the second scheme in November 2006 was mainly attractive to the 11 to 14 age group.
After much discussion, Mr Farley was asked to update the quotations for scheme 1 and the climbing wall part only of scheme 2 and thereafter hopefully with the support of the Borough Council as much grant as possible would be sought. Once the amount of grant is determined the Council will then decide the phasing but there will be a commitment eventually to undertake both schemes.
Meanwhile, the Council are recommended to approach the Meir Heath & Rough Close Village Hall Management Committee to ascertain whether they would be agreeable to allow the initial scheme for the 2 to 11 year olds to be sited on surplus land on a site to be agreed somewhere near the Village Hall Car Park.
